The Tricycle involved A Criminal Area Court sitting in the ancient town of Yola has sentenced a driver of the Adamawa Emirate Council Ahmad Mohammad Gabdo one year imprisonment. |
The verdict follows an involvement of the driver in an
accident on fifteen January 2017 injuring a tricycle (Keke Napep ) rider and damaging
the vehicle worth 650 Thousand Naira.
In his judgment, the court's judge Mohammed Yakubu ruled that the court has found the driver (Mohammed
Gabdo) guilty of an offence under section 21 and 22 RTL, and therefore
sentenced him to a fine of Ten thousand Naira or one year imprisonment.
The Judge also directed
the convict Mohammed Gabdo to within thirty days repair or buy tricycle to the
victim and refund 66 thousand Naira or subtract 11 thousand Naira being direct
payment of medical bills through the victim.
The accident which occurred on fifteenth January 2017 along
AADP Yola road behind high Islam, involved a white colored Toyota Hilux vehicle
belonging to Adamawa Emirate Council as driven by Ahmad Mohammad
Gabdo.
The driver was accused of over speeding resulting to loss of direction, hitting the tricyclist named Aliyu Siddiki who parked at the opposite
site of the road.
The victim sustained fracture on his right leg and a
damage of his tricycle valued 650
thousand Naira.
Reports have revealed that Police officers at Wuro Hausa
police station received the information and rushed to the scene of the
incident, apprehending the driver and the victim.
Subsequently the police took the matter to the Criminal
Area Court Yola for hearing and prosecution.
After hearing from both parties, the court's judge Mohammed
Yakubu charges the accused Ahmad Mohammad Gabdo guilty under section 21 and 22
RTL, the judge then sentenced him to a fine of ten thousand Naira or 1 year
imprisonment.
The Judge thereafter permitted any unsatisfied party to
appeal to high court Yola in thirty days from seventh March 2017.
In the mean time, Fadak Reporters has learnt that the
accused, Ahmad Mohammad Gabdo has appealed his case before High Court of
Justice Yola, and hearing has already commenced Monday.
