MR PRESIDENT YOU GOT IT ALL WRONG BY EMME EMMANUEL

It remains aphorism that an idle minds is a devil's workshop and he who is doing nothing is tempting devil to give him what to do “ the over crowed of large reservoir of idle hands of youth is undoubly the root of sprung up of various militia and socioeconomic well being and jeopardizing the peace of the nation. I was baffled to hear the president of the federation alluding that building universities as his response to that security concerns without him giving special emphasis to unemployment syndrome of the nation.
To prove his line of thought wrong, research by the national bureau of statistic put the unemployment rate in Nigeria at 23.9 per cent, meaning that population of 165 million citizens, Nigeria has about 40 million unemployed citizens and there have been all averages of 1-8 million new entrances into the active labor market every year. Statistics show that only quarter of that population join payroll at the end of each year leaving the vast majority of the graduates on hot seat struggling for survival. Then Mr. President what impact would increasing the number of universities has been given zero tolerance by the government?
It is of course an indisputable reality that the unemployment saga is the root course that fans the flames of the insecurity situation of the country to that worrisome level. Frustration among young job seekers brain wash them to have zero tolerance to morality and legality while struggling for a living. Their priority is just to earn money by hook or crook. Issue of job selectivity by job seekers is nothing to write home about.
Job selectivity is only available to children of our leaders at the helms of affairs. You will do agree with me that job known to have no certificate pre-requisite; job to known before to be served for illiterates and savages with no educational experience has been eventually taken over by graduates. If you will be honest to yourself you will appreciate the fact that today in your society you will hardly distinguish illiterates from graduates by their virtue and nature of jobs. In two decades ago, taxi driving and okada riding were known to be occupation of illiterates and the less privileged but today what we have on deck is just a paradox, 40 percent of keke napep riders, taxi drivers and okada riders in the state capitals and outskirts are graduates because their certificates have failed to put meals on their tables.
Just recently a business tycoon, Aliko Dangote advertised vacancy on the media in respect to employment of his company drivers, he stipulate 1st degree as the per-requisite for the employment, there was serious outcry by the less privilege in the country asking for the job left for their standard and caliber. In their greatest surprise, graduate with second degree dominated the interview and zero tolerance has been posed to first degree graduates that attended the interview. Tell me this type of paradox of life! If graduate with second degree will be chauffer, then what is the job left for a secondary school graduates and illiterates?
Mr. President you are hiding behind building universities as the strategy for declining insecurity to breast level, you forgot that un employment has been politicize and found to be expensive commodity that only few afford it and being a graduate do no longer automatically put a meal on a person's table in a society. Advertising vacancy by government for mass employment has succeeded in disappearing in our society, I forget when last I heard advertisement for mass employment in our society, before you realized you will hear somebody closed to you has gotten job. Merit and paper qualification which used to be the criteria and per-requisite for employment has been virtually thrown overboard due to the influence of the newly adopted system of recruitment that is characterized by nepotism, cronyism, and bravery which are very alien in our society. Today in our society before you will get job you will directly or in-directly involve what is called “Nigerinism” you will either give money or involve a godfather no matter the nature of job.
I was depressed to hear somebody last year in my local government asking for bribe of N15’000 over vacancy of N5000. See for God sake how corruption has eaten deeply into the body of fabric of our nation. Believe you me, it is this situation that is provoking most of our youths to take part time job of insure members are not illiterates, they are advocate derelicts deploy for insurgency and terrorism as a result of idleness. Interrogations of arrested Boko Haram members by security personnel and confections made by repented Boko Haram shows that only few of the members are not graduates, the vast majority of them are graduates some with even master’s degree.
When Boko Haram first came on board, it was all over the media that some of their members have burnt and destroyed their university certificates in Bauchi and Borno. Although there was no follow up report by media or security personnel that some have willingly retried and resigned from their offices. This is clear evidence and indication to cite that Boko Haram are not salary earners but hopeless universities graduates who have been frustrated by the trouble of labor market. I could remember last year (2013) Boko Haram members were bold enough to come over the media to beg for dialogue with federal government to grant them amnesty  as it was done with Niger-Delta militants so that they can pull back their swords and their living from government treasury. The act of seeking for amnesty by them showcases that poverty and UN employment are their major concern.
Take countries that employment automatically for graduates as a reference to a case point, you will hardly hear of insurgency and terrorism, kidnapping for ransom and armed robbery among youths because government has engaged them in a wealth creation and carry source of living for their people. But the situation of Nigeria is quite pathetic and a direct paradox of the reference to the case stated above, in Nigeria a person will finish his 1st and 2nd degree without getting job. Of course is this unemployment crisis that is encouraging social vices currently hitting the nation, Most of the victims of this circumstance have resort to it because they have no option. Recently a commercial sex worker with university certificate was lamenting over the media that it is unemployment that push her to the business. She reiterated that many officers and government fat cats went to bed with her with an agreement to compensate her with job, but after satisfying their selfish desire they dumped her. Mr. President if you don’t know better know it today, the dwellers of hard drugs in our country are graduates from health school who graduates without job.
Therefore pointing accusing fingers across, from federal government to state government to state government, from state government back to federal government as the root of the situation at stake will not fetch a lasting solution to the problem in question. To this issue finally, both federal government and state government should put their hand on deck and stop trading blames that has no positive impact. Federal government should penetrate to the root of these crises through state government by creating job opportunities to youths. Malpractice during job recruitment exercise such as nepotism, cronyism and bribery should be tackled by the government making it free and fair devoid of all vices. Federal government should build new industries and companies so that both under privileged will make a good living. Federal government should also embark on granting grants to jobless youths with zeal of business enterprise. If federal and state governments will react to unemployment, for sure, insurgency will be a history for the next generation. Mr. President

THE NEED FOR STATES UNDER STATE OF EMERGENCY RULE TO BAN PUBLIC VIEWING CENTERS

BY SALIHU ADAMU
Public viewing centers as the name implies, are provided places in a particular area meant for the masses to gather and view or watch certain films and programming such as football among others, for entertainment as well as impacting values and sharing ideas among themselves.
But to a sad point, these centers today became a graveyards for many innocent lives where by some heartless blood suckers turn the viewing centers to a “life snatching points”. Definitely, the alarming numbers of attacks on these centers is quite worrisome considering the values live has.
For instance, 1st June this year appeared to be a tragic day to football fans as a deadly expulsions rocked a viewing center that was screening a televised football match located at Kabang near a major military base in Mubi Adamawa state. The expulsion left over 40 football fans dead and injured more than fifty. Recently, there was another attack targeting a football viewing point in Damaturu, the capital city of Yobe state which at least killed 20 people and destroyed properties, various dailies confirmed from the police that the suicide bomber used tricycle known as keke napep during the attack.
The most astonishing issue is that most of these attacks on viewing centers do occurred in states under state of emergency rule, where by troops were deployed by federal government to safeguard people's lives and properties, but to a sad note, the effort was futile. This clearly shows that federal government is ineffective and has failed in its first responsibility for the protection of lives and properties.
Therefore, the state governments should stand up to take a proactive measure base on their level rescue the lives of their citizens. Thus the action taken by Adamawa state government for closing down all public viewing centers in the state is remarkable, It is therefore advisable for the rest of the states follow the step of Adamawa state government in other to rescue the lives of football enthusiastic in this Brazil 2014.

IF THERE IS ANY ONE TO BLAME FOR IRAN DRAW IS KESHI

Former super eagles captain, Austing Jajay okocha blames Keshi for Iran draw, he said coach stephen keshi should be held responsible for the lame approach the team adopted in the goalless draw against Iran last night.
He stated this as an analyst on Supersport after the match’’ keshi should be held responsible for the way the team played, his changes were poor. He took out Moses and brought in Ameobi. I think that was wrong change. We saw how Osaze came in and showed a lot of creativity. That is the kind of thing we expected.              Iran match would have been our strongest point but we missed it’’
In the other hand, coach Stepen Keshi has said that his team did their best to defeat Iran. Speaking moments after the match, keshi said ‘’ I wanted victory in this match, in fact, I want to win all the matches but this is football, that even when you dominate the game, you still don't get the result,
There was a lot of anxiety. My players tried to finish the game in the first 25 minutes, but when the goal didn't I think we pushed a bit too hard and frustrations starting to come in.’’ he said

Breaking: Police Ordered to arrest New crowned emir of Kano

The new Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi By SaharaReporters, New York The Nigerian police have been ordered to arrest the newly-crowned Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on fraud-related charges stemming from his tenure as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). According to reliable sources at the Presidency in Abuja, the team of policemen at the Emir’s palace in Kano received the order from the Nigeria police headquarters to place Mr. Sanusi under arrest if he leaves the Kano Governor’s lodge. The sources told SaharaReporters that Mr. Sanusi was to be arrested at his private home on Sunday night after his appointment was announced by the Kano State Governor. It would be recalled that the presidency embarked on several frantic measures to frustrate the former CBN governor’s emergence as Emir, including the premature congratulations of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to one of the candidates before the choice was announced. Since becoming Emir, Mr. Sanusi has been inside the Kano State governor’s lodge, receiving visitors and undertaking traditional rites. The source also told SaharaReporters that some notable northern leaders have already warned President Jonathan to avoid such a reckless action so as to avoid setting fire to the already volatile situation in the city of Kano. It is not known if President Jonathan is favoring back channel dialogue aimed at resolving the mess. Observers point out that he has yet to offer congratulations to the new Emir despite the PDP doing so. Since ousting Mr. Sanusi from the CBN last February, the President has not relented in seeking to inflict serious damage on him for revealing that the President and his cronies stole at least $20 billion from crude oil sales over a two year perio Source Sahara Reporters

We must send a message around the world that there is no disgrace in being a survivor of sexual violence, that the shame is on the aggressor.'

Angelina Jolie poses with British Foreign Secretary William Hague at a global summit to end sexual violence. Photo: Reuters
Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie and British Foreign Secretary William Hague vowed on Tuesday to produce practical action from the world’s first summit on ending sexual violence in conflict to punish those responsible and help victims.
Up to 1,200 government ministers, military and judicial officials and activists from about 150 nations will attend the June 10-13 summit that is a call for action to protect women, children and men from rape and sex attacks in war zones.

Hague and Jolie, special envoy of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), said the conference was the culmination of two years of work and they wanted concrete action to capture and punish those responsible for these crimes and support victims.

"It has been a long time in coming," Oscar-winner Jolie told a crowd of media as she arrived at the ExCel centre in London’s docklands.

Hague said the summit, which will be attended by US Secretary of State John Kerry, will push for international standards on recording and investigating crimes such as rape.

A recent run of shocking cases of violence against women including the kidnapping of 200 Nigerian girls, the stoning to death of a pregnant woman in Pakistan and the gang-rape and murder of two Indian teenagers is expected to raise the pressure on the world community for action rather than just promises.

On Wednesday, the summit will agree the first international protocol on how to document and investigate sexual violence in conflicts and a ministerial meeting on security in Nigeria and the missing schoolgirls will be held Thursday.

APC accuses PDP of inciting Kano violence

The APC asked the Kano State Attorney- General to prosecute Olisah Metuh and others. ——————————————————– The All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of inciting the violence that followed the announcement of a new Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on Sunday, in an apparent attempt to destabilize the state. It therefore urged the Kano State Attorney-General to prosecute all PDP officials involved in this act of destabilization. In a statement issued in Lagos on Monday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, the party said the statement issued by PDP’s publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, congratulating one of the contenders long before the Kano State government announced the new Emir was premeditated and calibrated to incite violence. It wondered why a ruling party, which has access to Kano or any state government, would rush to the media to congratulate a contender who had not been selected, without even contacting the selecting authority to ensure the veracity of whatever news it may have heard. ”What is so urgent about congratulating the new Emir that could not have waited for a few hours for the appropriate authority to make an official announcement?” APC queried. The party said when the announcement was eventually made and the contender who had already been congratulated lost out, it is only natural that his supporters would feel shortchanged. ”It is therefore obvious that the PDP, through its National Publicity Secretary went out of their way to stoke the fire of violence in Kano. ”Since we live in a country which is being governed by the rule of law, the best option open to the Kano state government is for the State Attorney-General to immediately initiate criminal proceedings against PDP and its officials for incitement. Whatever explanations they have for their irresponsible and premeditated actions they should reserve for their defence in court,” APC said. Source Premiums Time

The Nigerian government has banned private planes from landing at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano

“They (military) don’t consult anybody. They just go ahead with their decision since it is about security.” The Nigerian government has banned private planes from landing at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano. Chris Olukolade, the spokesperson for the Nigerian military, told PREMIUM TIMES that the ban was for “security reasons.” Mr. Olukolade, a Major-General, declined to state the nature of the security concerns. But a source in the military told PREMIUM TIMES that the directive would not be unconnected with Sunday’s crowning of Lamido Sanusi as the new Emir of Kano. “After the Emir was appointed, there were lots of protests from the group supporting the late Emir’s son. The security agencies must have felt that certain actions need to be taken,” the source, who declined to be named because he was not authorized to speak for the military, said. Yakubu Dati, the spokesperson for the Nigerian aviation parastatals, said the military usually takes such decisions when there are security concerns. “We as an authority, we have not banned any plane from landing in Kano. You know there is civil aviation and there is also military aviation which supersedes ours,” Mr. Dati said. “They don’t consult anybody. They just go ahead with their decision since it is about security,” he added. The news of the ban came after Umaru Al- Makura, the Nasarawa State Governor, who was flying into the Kano airport from Makurdi on Monday morning, was denied clearance to land by the airport commander, PREMIUM TIMES learnt. On Sunday, several party chiefs from both the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, flew into Kano prior to the appointment of the new Emir. Nasir El-Rufai, an APC chieftain, described the military’s action as a “hopeless persecution” of Mr. Sanusi by the Nigerian government. “Is Nigeria under military rule or martial law allowing the violation of constitutional rights with such impunity,” Mr. El-Rufai said on his official Facebook page. “When will the Jonathanians give up on this hopeless persecution of a good man? For how long will the Jonathanians continue to test the patience of our people and the citizens of Kano with this reckless impunity,” he added. Before his emergence as Emir, Mr. Sanusi had been having a running battle with the Goodluck Jonathan administration, with the president controversially suspending him as Governor of Central Bank. His passport was also seized by security agencies and he was prevented from travelling out of the country. While the government claimed it was acting based on allegations of graft against the ex- CBN chief, many Nigerians believe he was being persecuted for exposing the corruption in the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC. The presidency and Nigeria’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are believed to have been opposed to Mr. Sanusi’s emergence as Kano emir, with the PDP congratulating his major contender as victor hours before an official announcement was made. The party later withdrew the congratulatory message blaming it on an error by an aide to its publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh.

Having people walk around nude, getting drunk and some engaging in sex is not cultural revolution but rather cultural death

Big brother Africa is one of the most popular reality tv show in Africa started in 2005 which is sponsored by DStv. In this year’s edition BBafrica will have representatives from 14 courtiers eyeing $300,000, up to win, however depicted values in BBafricas clash with norms and values of some African countries like Rwanda.
Many Rwandans describe BBafrica as an alien culture not only to Rwanda but to Africa.
As Rwanda will take  the place of Angola in the 9th season which will start on September 7 , 2014, social critics dominates the country’s topic of discussion ” from the few times I have watched the show, only 20% of it is okayHaving people walk around nude, getting drunk and some engaging in sex is not cultural revolution but rather cultural death.Sendary says

Meanwhile, Rwanda’s  entertainment industry describe the participation as great achievement “ Rwanda’s  participation is testament to how far we have come. Being  the lucky country picked among many other countries says a lot about what has been achieved in the entertainment industry so far and I’m confident that whoever is representing Rwanda will give other contestants a run for their money,” Manzi says.
The strict devotion to Rwanda’s cultural norms and values has witnesses ample social events, such as pulling down of airtel billboard this month, objectifying women.
However, despite all the supports and critics some Rwanda’s celebrities have already shown and vindicates their interest in participation for BBafrica, McTino and Anita Pendo in forefront, while people are anxious    to know either reigning queen Colombe Akiwalu have interest or not.

Very Touching Story

Nasir El-Rufai VERY TOUCHING: Someone posted this on WhatsApp and I thought I should share: Musa worked at a meat distribution factory. One day, when he finished with his work schedule, he went into the meat cold room (Freezer) to inspect something, but in a moment of bad luck, the door closed and he was locked inside with no help in sight. Although he screamed and knocked with all his might, his cries went unheard as no one could hear him. Most of the workers had already gone, and outside the cold room (freezer) it's impossible to hear what was going on inside. Five hours later, whilst Musa was on the verge of death, the security guard of the factory, eventually open the door and saved the life of Musa. Musa then asked the security guard how he got to open the door, as it wasn't part of his work routine. His explanation: "I've been working in this factory for 35 years, hundreds of workers come in and out every day, but you're one of the few who greets me in the morning and says goodbye to me every night when leaving after working hours. Many treat me as if I am invisible. Today, like every other day, you greeted me in your simple manner ' Hello ' at the entrance when resuming for work. .....But curiously, after working hours today, I observed I've not heard your ' bye! see you tomorrow '. Hence I decided to check around the factory. I look forward to your ' Hi ' and ' bye ' every day. To you, I am someone. By not hearing your farewell, I knew something had happened. Then I Sought and found u! "Moral Lesson to reflect upon:.. Be humble, love and respect those around you. As life is too short! Try to have an impact on people in ways we can't even imagine, especially the people that cross your part every day!!!

Witnesses say the dead included women and children, some killed inside a church where they had been sleeping. All the victims were of the Bafuliru ethnic background. It was not immediately clear who had carried out the attack, but the region has seen ongoing conflict between the Bafuliru and Barundi communities. A Reuters reporter said the victims had been shot, stabbed or burned in their homes. South Kivu's Interior Minister Jean-Julien Miruho told Agence France Presse news agency that the attack had likely been revenge for cattle raids. Source BBC AFRICA

MEDIATION ON DETERMINATION

‘’ The miracle, or power, that elevates the few is to be found in their industry, application and perseverance under the promptings of brave determination spirit………. ’’ Mark Twain

The world in which we live is one that answers to our needs. But  it is man's responsibility  to make his need known and to push with all his might, as if he wants nothing else, but to see that need granted. This is the philosophy upon which determination is predicted. Determination is not desperation. It is an earnest and uncompromising resolve to pursue a single goal to the exclusion of every other, until that particular goal is achieved.
Ask yourself this question: why do we have more failures in life success than successful people? The answer largely lies in the difference peoples level of determination.
We operate in a world of time and space; in a world where time is never enough and where opportunities are often scarce and fiercely competed for. In such a world where stark realities constantly challenge our fantasies, only determination sustains dreams to the end.
Every man is an expression of infinite intelligence. As such, every day, endless streams of creativity flow through our minds. But if people are not determined enough, they cannot transform their intentions and dreams into resolutions, so they will always wake up with a litany of unfinished projects staring them in the face.
Dear friend, no matter what reckless optimists may say to the contrary, always remember that it is your sweet, your resolve and the singularity of purpose with which you pursue you dreams that determines your altitude in life.
The world is full of jesters, people who will question, laugh and mock your dreams to your face. But if you learn to look within yourself and draw your strength from within, your determination will always see you through.
Do you have an uphill task that you would like to complete today? Yes today! Do you have an arduous challenge that you must first overcome? Do you have a dream that seems elusive? Have you failed on many previous attempts? Then lift up your head, square up your shoulders, arise and push to the end. For in the race of life, if you desire to see the finish line, you must be determined all the way!

”PRISONERS SWAP’’ THE ONLY OPTION FOR THE PRESIDENCY TO FREE ABDUCTED SCHOOL GIRLS

By Salihu Adamu

The request by BOKO HARAM insurgents to swap its prisoners with the abducted school girls at government secondary school chibok in its recent video has generated a lot of comments & controversies varying from various individuals and government’s parastatals including countries, such as USA, UK ,FRANCE and ISRAEL which trooped into NIGERIA claiming to help the government in bringing back the girls.
On their part the UNITED STATE OF AMERICA advised the presidency not to accept the swap as a means of freeing the girls, claiming that they have even cited the location of the girls and the insurgents in sambisa forest which the president did not hesitate in accepting their advice.
few weeks after USA has convinced presidency not to exchange BOKO HARAM detainees with the abducted chibok girls, the UNITED STATES government released five (5) skilled TALIBAN’S commandant which were detained in gwamtanamo bay prison in Cuba in exchange with its soldier. If five (5) TALIBAN commandants will be released just for a soldier to be freed why not some BOKO HARAMS vulnerable wives and children for the precious lives of our more than two hundred chibok girls?
The Israeli government which also claims to help in the fight against insurgents in Nigeria and to bring back the girls disapproved the swap with a loud voice stating that the girls were not prisoners, but to ask have their search yielded any positive result? let me remind you what happened in 2006.the Israeli government released about 300 palestenians in exchange for one Israeli soldier captured by a group regarded as terrorist group. this swap clearly shows they valued the life of their soldiers than that of the detainees.
The silent questions here, if these countries will brainwash us not to swap boko haram prisoners with our girls while prisoners swap with insurgents is one of their attitude, then what do they mean? Is Nigerian government not aware of the European attitude towards prisoners swapping? were the European countries selfish on security issues also? Or are they benefiting from the ongoing security problems bedeviling Nigeria?
Meanwhile, on 29th may 2014 chief of Defense staff air Marshall Alex Badeh said that the military knew the location of abducted girls. Statement that provoked both the United states security department and the US president whereby the US state department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told the reporters that they don't
have independent information from the US to support that statement.
Considering all the listed turmoil above, the only option for the presidency is to negotiate with the insurgents and accept to release bokoharam detainees in exchange for our girls.  #BringBackOurGirls.

GSM NETWORK AND SATISFACTION IN NIGERIA

 GSM NETWORK AND SATISFACTION
BY ABU-RAMLAT MAHMUD ABUBAKAR

Global system for mobile communication is a means of communication that enables you to communicate to mobile subscribers all over the globe, by the help of mobile service operators. Accessing a GSM network stipulate three things which are, mobile phone operator, mobile phone and a subscriber identity module (SIM) Card, GSM service was first introduce in Nigeria in august 2001, in the era of president olusegun Obasanjo. Before then, Nigeria had about 450,000 lines but now it have increased to over 40 million lines as at June 2014.
Meanwhile, Nigeria today have over 20 mobile network operators but the four  leading among them are MTN,ETISALAT,GLO and AIRTEL  all this four are competing in other to win the minds of people to patronize their service, but the salient question to ask here is that do these companies render their services effectively? An African writer and also a BBC AFRICA reporter Sola Odunfa in 2012 writes on difficulty of making call in Nigeria” if you must make a call to any body’s phone in Nigeria, you need to be understanding and patient, it can be very frustrating and annoying experience”. She concluded that “conversation which normally should not last two minutes may after several calls take 10 minutes and believe me you will pay for every second”.
Equally important, for you to browse internet beyond the capital city of Abuja with some networks, the problem still the same. Opening page of 9kb will take you 3 to 4 minutes. Why is it so? Is it because of the mobile phones Nigerians use or the problem is from the Service providers? According to the world mobile producers, Nigeria is among the top African countries that purchase high quality mobile phone
Moreover, the number you’re calling is not available even if the number is just before you is what Nigerians hear while making calls.
Although, service providers do give many excuses for providing poor service to teeming Nigerians, which include: high running cost due to lack of constant power supply in Nigeria. a recent study about power supply in this country shows that 78% of the total cost of operation by GSM operators goes to the provision of diesel. Is that a reason GSM subscribers in Nigeria pay high rate of call tariff and expensive data bundle? This vindicates that   subscribers are directly affected. and they are neither satisfied nor save their unit.

Also, Occasional sabotage of system of telecommunication in some north eastern states of Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe, were sectarian insurgency continue to wreck havoc on the socio economic lives of those that reside in that part of the country, despite all the presence of the security, GSM base stations were not prevented.

The Nigerian communication commission (NCC) is a body that regulates telecommunication industry in Nigeria. The responsibility of this body is to make sure that, service providers provide quality service to Nigerians.
NCC has been living up to expectation. For instance, in march 2012. NCC fined service providers sum of $2m each for providing poor service. Yet officials do not offer promises to improve quality of service.
So if the Nigerian government has failed to generate standard power supply ,and adequate security in the country, NCC hasn’t stop them from rendering their service and spending huge amount of money in razzmatazz advertisements, and giving  celebrities gigantic amount of cash and offers. do you know that in June 2013  inyaya signs N60million mtn endorsement deal, N60million deal includes, appearance for the telecom’s events for a year, performances, sign on fee, and commercials, believe you me that’s not all Inyanya was signed alongside five other artists Wizkid, Davido, Pariz,  Chidinma, and Imike as brands ambassadors. According to the reports, Wizkid signed close to 45 million naira while Devido also signed close to 32 million naira! Imagine 137 million has gone in vain, yes in vain what if they use this money in installing new base stations, this is just for MTN alone and the others are not exclusive.
Efforts must be intensified to ensure that these ugly experiences are corrected. Government should provide enabling environment for service providers through the provision constant power supply, basic amenities such as roads as well as the reduction in tax.  A special task force should be established to secure Gsm network base stations in the country.
Service providers on their parts should strive to provide quality service to subscribers.
NCC should go beyond fining service providers by providing stiffer punishments for erring service providers. So that Nigerians could enjoy quality GSM service.

Mr.president speech by Sahara Reporters

President Goodluck Jonathan
By President Goodluck Jonathan
Fellow Nigerians: I greet and felicitate
with you all, today, as we mark 15 years
of uninterrupted democratic governance
in our beloved country.
2.  Our dear nation, Nigeria, has certainly
come a long way and made notable
progress since our first Democracy Day
on May 29, 1999 when the military finally
relinquished power and handed over to a
democratically-elected government,
marking the true beginning of a
government of the people, by the people,
for the people.”
3.  Although I have ordered a low-key
commemoration of this year’s Democracy
Day in deference to the current mood of
the nation, there can be no doubt that
the past 15 years, the longest period of
sustained democratic governance in our
country, have been a blessing to us, as a
people.
4.  As we commemorate 15 years of our
Fourth Republic today therefore, I believe
that it is fitting that we pay tribute once
again to all those who played a part in
restoring our nation to the true path of
democratic governance, built on the
foundations of rule of law and freedom of
expression.
5.  As a result of our collective efforts
since 1999, democratic governance is
now entrenched in our nation and
institutions. I wholeheartedly believe that
our people are the better for it. The
scope of fundamental rights and liberties
enjoyed by our people overthe past 15
years has been expanded beyond
measure.
6.  On my watch, we have witnessed high
national economic growth rates, steady
improvements and expansion of national
infrastructure including airports and
roads, the restoration of rail
transportation, the efficient
implementation of a roadmap for
improved power supply, a revolutionary
approach to agricultural production, as
well as advances in education, sports,
youth development, healthcare delivery,
housing, water supply and other social
services.
7.   In the oil and gas sector, our
promotion of a sustainable local content
policy, continues to guarantee equity and
better opportunities for
Nigerian entrepreneurs and skilled
personnel.
8.  Significant increase in mobile
telephoneand national broadband
penetration, making Information and
Communications Technology (ICT) one of
the fastest growing sectors of the
Nigerian economy. We have also
developed strong financial markets and
regulatory institutions. Our banks now
have regional and global footprints.
9.  Nigeria has also gained recognition as
the largest economy in Africa, the most
preferred investment destination in the
continent and in terms of returns on
investment, the fourth in the world. We
are pleased that the world has noticed,
as global leaders converged in Abuja
early this month for the World Economic
Forum in Africa.
10.The event not only witnessed a record
attendance, it brought the prospect of an
additional flow of investment into the
Nigerian economy estimated at over $68
billion over the next few years.
11. In foreign relations, our country has
equally done well within this period, by
establishing and strengthening strong
partnerships with all ECOWAS countries
and the rest of the world. This has
helped to deepen Nigeria’s leadership
role in multilateral institutions including
the United Nations.
12.Furthermore, under this
administration, we have made consistent
progress in improving the standard of
elections in our country to ensure that
they are ever more credible and truly
representative of the people’s free
choice. The National Conference we
initiated to deliberate and make
recommendations on the best ways of
resolving our current political and socio-
economic challenges is ongoing. It is our
expectation that its outcomes will help to
further consolidate the gains we have
made from democracy in the past 15
years, and place our dear nation even
more firmly on the path to greatness.
Dear Compatriots,
13. It is a sad fact that as I address you
today, all the gains of the past 15 years
of democratic governance in our country
are threatened by the presence of
international terrorism on our shores. Our
dear country, Nigeria is facing a new
challenge. A war has been unleashed on
us. Extremist foreign elements,
collaborating with some of our misguided
citizens, are focused on an attempt to
bring down our country and the
democracy and freedomwe cherish and
celebrate today.
14. The despicable abduction of school
girls from Chibok in Borno State has
brought to the awareness of the entire
world, the heartless brutality of these
terrorists who want to instigate a
descent into anarchy and balkanize our
nation.
15. In recent years, terrorist attacks
have claimed the lives of several of our
compatriots, many have been  injured or
maimed, whole villages and communities
have been destroyed and the economy of
some of our states  is in jeopardy.
16. There can be no doubt that what we
are witnessing in Nigeria today is a
manifestation of the same warped and
ferocious world view that brought down
the Twin Towers in New York, killed
innocent persons in Boston and led to
the murder of defenceless people in the
Southern Russian city of Volgograd.
Terrorist activities have brought war and
pains to Mali, Somalia, Yemen, Syria,
Afghanistan and Pakistan. These agents
of evil continue to brainwash and incite
ignorant young men and women to
attack the innocent. We cannot allow this
to continue.
17. I welcome the statements of
solidarity from patriotic citizens and the
global community in support of our
efforts to stamp out terrorism. I applaud
the understanding that in a democracy,
such as we are building, people can have
differences while sharing worthy values
and standing together in opposition to
the scourge of terrorism. Nigeria is the
only country we have and we must all
work to preserve it for present and future
generations.
18. Despite the challenges we face, we
must commend our security forces. We
must not forget their gallantry and
successes in liberating nations and in
peacekeeping, from Liberia to Sierra
Leone,  Congo, Sudan, Mali, Guinea-
Bissau and many places in Africa and
beyond. Our forces have paid the
supreme price in several places at
several times.
19. Today, they face a different
challenge, an unconventional war by
terrorists. They are adjusting and are
being equipped to tackle the new menace
of terrorism. We must show confidence in
their ability. I have no doubt that, with
the support of Nigerians, our neighbours
and the international community, we will
reinforce our defence, free our girls and
rid Nigeria of terrorists.
20. It is now 45 days since the
horrifying abduction of the college girls of
Chibok. I share the deep pain and anxiety
of their parents and guardians and I
assure them once again that government
will continue to do everything possible to
bring our daughters home.
21. I am determined to protect our
democracy, our national unity and our
political stability, by waging a total war
against terrorism. The unity and stability
of our country, and the protection of lives
and property are non-negotiable. I have
instructed our security forces to launch a
full-scale operation to put an end to the
impunity of terrorists on our soil.
22. I have also authorized the security
forces to use any means necessary under
the law to ensure that this is done. I
assure you that Nigeria will be safe
again, and that these thugs will be driven
away – it will not happen overnight, but
we will spare no effort to achieve this
goal.
23. For our citizens who have joined
hands with Al Qaeda and international
terrorists in the misguided belief that
violence can possibly solve their
problems, our doors remain open to
them for dialogue and reconciliation, if
they renounce terrorism and embrace
peace.
24. My government, while pursuing
security measures, will explore all
options, including readiness to accept
unconditional renunciation of violence by
insurgents, and to ensure their de-
radicalization, rehabilitation and re-
integration into the broader society.
Dear Compatriots,
25. We must remain united to win the
war against terrorism. Christians,
Moslems, farmers, fishermen, herdsmen,
teachers, lawyers, clergy or clerics, the
rich, the poor and Nigerians from all
sections of the country must work
together with our security agencies and
armed forces to overcome the terrorists
who now threaten all that we hold dear.
26.                   The war against terror
may be difficult, but the days of peace
will come again. Terror is evil; nowhere in
history has evil endured forever. The
menace of Boko Haram will surely come
to an end. I believe that because of your
prayers, your courage, hardwork, faith
and sacrifice, we will ultimately prevail
over the terrorists and all other evil
forces.
27.                    We are a strong,
resilient and courageous people.  We will
continue to partner with the civilized
world, to confront international terrorism
and every other challenge that comes our
way with patriotic zeal and
determination.
Fellow Nigerians,
28. Yes, we have challenges but we will
surely overcome. Nigeria is our country.
Nigeria is blessed. We will all collectively
protect, defend and develop this country
for ourselves, and our children.
29.                   Long live the Federal
Republic of Nigeria.
30.                   Thank you and God
bless Nigeria.
