”PRISONERS SWAP’’ THE ONLY OPTION FOR THE PRESIDENCY TO FREE ABDUCTED SCHOOL GIRLS

By Salihu Adamu

The request by BOKO HARAM insurgents to swap its prisoners with the abducted school girls at government secondary school chibok in its recent video has generated a lot of comments & controversies varying from various individuals and government’s parastatals including countries, such as USA, UK ,FRANCE and ISRAEL which trooped into NIGERIA claiming to help the government in bringing back the girls.
On their part the UNITED STATE OF AMERICA advised the presidency not to accept the swap as a means of freeing the girls, claiming that they have even cited the location of the girls and the insurgents in sambisa forest which the president did not hesitate in accepting their advice.
few weeks after USA has convinced presidency not to exchange BOKO HARAM detainees with the abducted chibok girls, the UNITED STATES government released five (5) skilled TALIBAN’S commandant which were detained in gwamtanamo bay prison in Cuba in exchange with its soldier. If five (5) TALIBAN commandants will be released just for a soldier to be freed why not some BOKO HARAMS vulnerable wives and children for the precious lives of our more than two hundred chibok girls?
The Israeli government which also claims to help in the fight against insurgents in Nigeria and to bring back the girls disapproved the swap with a loud voice stating that the girls were not prisoners, but to ask have their search yielded any positive result? let me remind you what happened in 2006.the Israeli government released about 300 palestenians in exchange for one Israeli soldier captured by a group regarded as terrorist group. this swap clearly shows they valued the life of their soldiers than that of the detainees.
The silent questions here, if these countries will brainwash us not to swap boko haram prisoners with our girls while prisoners swap with insurgents is one of their attitude, then what do they mean? Is Nigerian government not aware of the European attitude towards prisoners swapping? were the European countries selfish on security issues also? Or are they benefiting from the ongoing security problems bedeviling Nigeria?
Meanwhile, on 29th may 2014 chief of Defense staff air Marshall Alex Badeh said that the military knew the location of abducted girls. Statement that provoked both the United states security department and the US president whereby the US state department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told the reporters that they don't
have independent information from the US to support that statement.
Considering all the listed turmoil above, the only option for the presidency is to negotiate with the insurgents and accept to release bokoharam detainees in exchange for our girls.  #BringBackOurGirls.
